Professor Dennis Del Favero Scientia Professor


Dennis Del Favero is a Scientia Professor and research artist at the UNSW Faculties of Art & Design and Engineering. He is Chair Professor of Digital Innovation and Associate Dean (Research & Enterprise) in the Faculty of Art & Design; Joint Director of the iCinema Research Centre; Co-Director (Research) of EPICentre; Visiting Professorial Fellow at ZKMCentre for Art and Media, Karlsruhe, and at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna; Visiting Professor at City University of Hong Kong and IUAV University of Venice; and a panel member of the Eureka Prize for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Science.

Del Favero has held numerous solo exhibitions including at the Sprengel Museum, Hannover; ViaFarini, Milan; and Neue Galerie, Graz; and has participated in major group exhibitions including the ‘Sydney Film Festival’; ‘Biennial of Architecture Rotterdam’; ‘Biennial of Seville’; ‘Videonale’, Bonn; and ‘Battle of the Nations War Memorial’, Leipzig (joint project with Jenny Holzer). He is currently engaged in interdisciplinary art and science projects that explore the aesthetic relationship between human and non-human systems through the experimental reformulation of the relationship between the environment and society using digital media. These are being undertaken in collaboration with UNSW Intelligent Environments Lab, UNSWClimate Change Research Centre, UNSW Centre for Astrobiology, City University of Hong Kong, University of Cologne and ZKM Centre for Art and Media, Karlsruhe.
