Overview

NIEA is committed to innovative exhibition-making and curatorial research, focused in its UNSW galleries and in public space.

A unique purpose-built gallery and laboratory facility is under development at COFA, Paddington for the presentation of a dynamic program of exhibitions and events.

NIEA's iCinema centre at UNSW (Scientia building) houses an Audio-Visual Immersive Environment [AVIE] and 360-degree cinema facility for the exhibition of experimental media art and industry prototypes, along with iDOME, a networked 180 degree mobile visualisation system.

COFAspace provides a venue for students to showcase and curate work.

Other COFA Galleries:

Late in 2009 the Ivan Dougherty Gallery at COFA, UNSW closed its doors after 32 years as one of Australia's leading public art galleries. We are currently developing an archival site documenting over 300 exhibitions held at Ivan Dougherty Gallery, 1977—2009.
